  History of the Firm

The firm has its origins in a partnership which was formed by Cyril Pentecost, a Master Printer, in 1938, at premises in Leytonstone, North-East London.  The business closed during the war, and re-opened in 1946.

In 1964, the partnership was dissolved, and Cyril Pentecost set up Pentecost Printing at 83 Lodge Lane, North Finchley, in the business part of the family home, Torrington Cottage;  it was possibly "the smallest print shop in the world", as Spike Milligan once declared.   In the same year, Cyril's son Edward joined the firm, and by 1983, required expansion demanded that the firm should move to the present larger premises in Whetstone, in order to make room for more machinery, although certain tasks were still carried out at 83 Lodge Lane until the early 1990s.

Tom O'Sullivan joined the firm in 1983, as a junior assistant, and is now the print supervisor.

Cyril retired from the business in 1995, but continued as a consultant for several more years;  at this time Edward took over as proprietor.

Daniel Pocklington started with the firm in 1993, and is the graphic designer.

The firm became a Limited Company on 2nd March 2000.
